EASTLEIGH boss Kelvin Davis remains confident his side can beat Aldershot this evening, despite losing both of their opening National League games.
The Spitfires head to Hampshire rivals Aldershot tonight, aiming to claim their first points of the season after defeats to Brackley Town and Grimsby.
Davis revealed the squad are feeling good, even after two defeats, but insisted his players must perform better at the Recreation Ground.
Aldershot beat Eastleigh 2-1 at home last season before the Spitfires avenged that defeat at the Silverlake Stadium by winning 2-0.
“The last couple of times we’ve played them, the game has been edgy. It’s a local derby, and there is competitiveness there," said Davis.
“Both teams want to win a game of football. I don’t expect it to be any different. The lads have been good.
"Everyone is fit, and we are trying to improve on what we have done so far. We haven’t won or got a point from our first two games.

“That adds a little extra to it as well. We want to get points on the board as soon as we can. That’s not just the talking, it’s the squad as well.
“There is a real feeling in the squad that they want to show up and perform better in moments.
“We were very good with the ball on Saturday. We need to emulate that and be a bit more steely without it and take opportunities when they come.”
Hosts Aldershot are also yet to win a game this season and have picked up zero points from their first two games, like Eastleigh.
Tommy Widdrington's side have lost both games 3-2 against Boston United and Altrincham, respectively.
“Aldershot is a tough place (to go). It’s an away game and they need to get their season under way as well. We will be prepared for a strong challenge," Davis added.
“I’m always confident. The moment you don’t believe you will get anything from a game is the moment you are in the wrong job.
“I’m really pleased with the match prep today. Now it’s about transferring that into the game against an opponent who will be competing for three points as well.
"It's still so early in the season. I'm realistic enough to know that there are a lot of points still to play for. Our performance needs to be right first and foremost.
"The game will be the game. We will put as many obstacles in their way and create opportunities for ourselves as possible.
"If we get more of them right than wrong, we will be in for a good night. The lads are professionals. We go to Aldershot, putting the emotional part to one side."
