SAINTS have confirmed the exit of assistant manager Paul Trollope, who has rejoined former boss Rob Edwards at Premier League Wolves.

Interim manager Tonda Eckert will be supported by a coaching team of Jeremy Newton, Ben Reeves, and Ryan Flood, as well as analyst Albert Jones.

All four have been part of Eckert's coaching team with the under-21s, and have stepped up to bolster the German's ranks, also on an interim basis.

"I think it's always important to quickly get things rolling with people you know, and I'm very confident that we can cover everything," said Eckert.

First team coach Adam Lallana has moved into a new role as interim head coach of the under-21s team, while Eckert has vacated the position.

Lallana was part of Eckert's team for the matches against QPR and Sheffield Wednesday, but will now gain experience in a number one role.

Lallana was initially considered for the under-21s job in the summer, before Saints pursued Eckert, and Lallana opted to join Will Still's staff.

He will be assisted by Matty Etherington, who led the side in their recent Premier League 2 outing against Arsenal, which resulted in a 1-1 draw.

Departing assistant Trollope, 53, only arrived at St Mary's in June, supporting the then-new boss, Still, who has since been sacked by the club.

Trollope remained at St Mary's following Still's dismissal, initially acting as assistant to interim boss Eckert in back-to-back Championship wins.

But he has now linked up with Edwards at the bottom of the Premier League table, with Wolves fighting to preserve their top-flight status.

"He worked with Rob before and approached the club a couple of days ago that there was the option for him to join Wolves," Eckert explained.

"We had a very honest conversation. He has been excellent since I stepped in. He has been a great supporter on and off the pitch. We'll miss him."

He was previously assistant to Edwards at Luton Town, where he won promotion from the Championship before suffering immediate relegation.

Trollope acted as interim boss to the Hatters following the sacking of Edwards, before exiting Kenilworth Road as it headed towards League One.

Saints appointed Trollope, believing he would provide experience and insight into the Football League to Still, who had not managed in England.
