Southampton drawn to visit League Two side in Carabao Cup first round

SAINTS have been drawn to face League Two Colchester United away at Colchester Community Stadium in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

Tonda Eckert will take his Championship promotion hopefuls to the team that finished 11th in the fourth tier last season to start the 2026/27 campaign.

The tie is to be played over the weekend of Saturday, August 8, before their Championship term gets under way at Watford on Sunday, August 16.

The stadium has a capacity of 10,105, with between 1,700 and 2,000 typically available for away fans. Ticket details will be revealed in due course.

The two sides have not played each other since the 2010/11 League One season, in which the two meetings a 0-0 draw at St Mary’s and a 2-0 Saints win away.
