Saints are set to name an unchanged line-up for only the second time in the league this season.

Jan Poortvliet plans to stick with the side that defeated Reading 2–1 on Saturday for tonight’s visit of Plymouth despite having Alex Pearce back in contention.

The only other time Poortvliet named an unchanged side for two consecutive league games was in August when Saints defeated Derby 1-0 at Pride Park before losing 1-0 at home to Blackpool.

Pearce will be back on the bench for Saints tonight after he was ineligible to face Reading, from whom he is on loan, at the weekend while David McGoldrick is expected to overcome a minor ankle problem.

Poortvliet said: “Alex Pearce will come back because he couldn’t play against Reading.

“He will be in the squad but maybe not the team because the team that played on Saturday have to stay on the pitch.

“I think they deserve that and there’s no reason to do it another way.

“For the rest Ollie Lancashire is still injured, Simon Gillett is still injured, Oscar Gobern is still injured and Jason Euell is suspended.

“Michael Svensson was training yesterday but it was too short for tonight so we will look at him for the Charlton game.

“The players came in Sunday and yesterday and looked very happy and confident.
