ADAM Lallana continued his superb goalscoring form as Saints recorded their third win in seven days at Southend tonight.

He struck twice in the 32nd and 43rd minutes to take his League One run to five in three matches after loaneee Neal Trotman had opened the scoring at Roots Hall in the sixth minute.

Wolves loanee full back George Friend levelled for the Shrimpers before Lallana struck twice – as he did in last Saturday’s 4-1 League One thumping of Gillingham at St Mary’s.

Saints are now just a point adrift of 23rd place Wycombe and six adrift of fifth from bottom Stockport, the side who are immediately above the drop zone.

It was Saints' first away league win since early March, having drawn five and lost six of their last 11 league games on their travels.
