Dean Hammond believes he and the rest of his Saints colleagues will have to keep scoring the goals to support Rickie Lambert if Saints are to be successful this season.
Hammond has enjoyed an excellent start to his Saints career but had to wait until Saturday’s game at Oldham – his 11th for the club – to score his first goal.
Saints have started to get goals from all over the pitch which helps ease the load on free scoring striker Lambert.
Hammond, who headed home the opening goal from a corner in Saints’ 3-1 win at Boundary Park, is now looking for more himself and from the rest of the side.
He said: “We’ve been working hard in training because set pieces are very important, and it worked.
“If you want to have a successful season then you’ve got to have goals coming from all areas of the team."
