SOUTHAMPTON’S Max Brick says he has no problems being in the shadow of diving partner and golden boy Tom Daley – providing they keep winning medals together.

Brick and Daley took Commonwealth gold together in the 10m synchronised platform event on Tuesday but the ensuing media coverage focused purely on one half of the winning partnership.

But that hasn’t bothered Brick one jot as both were back in the SPM Aquatic Complex yesterday competing in the individual 10m platform dive.

Again it was Daley who will grab the headlines after adding Commonwealth gold to his world title with a score of 538.35 as Brick finished eighth with 409.35.

And the Southampton Diving Academy member admits performing with Daley brings out the best in him.

He said: “It is good to have Tom beside you, it gives you a bit more confidence.

“It does not bother me at all that he receives more attention. He has been like that from a young age so I don’t mind being a little bit in the background because it takes a bit of pressure off me and lets me focus on what we are doing.

“It has not sunk in that I have won the gold yet because I had go straight to bed and prepare for today. I have not really had the time to stop.”
