Kelvin Davis admitted the last few days have been like a "whirlwind" after making his Saints debut.
The 29-year-old keeper only joined from Sunderland on Friday and was pitched in for his first game in the pre-season friendly against Bristol City at Ashton Gate last night.
Davis has barely had time to get to know his teammates which, when coupled to the fact last night was his first game since the end of last season, made it even more important that he played.
"We've had three training sessions and then the game so it was a bit of a whirlwind for me," smiled the £800,000 shot-stopper.
"I'm getting to know the boys and cracking on with training sessions and getting ourselves ready.
"It was a proud moment for me to be putting a Southampton shirt on.
"To see the fans and get a round of applause was quite nice.
"Let's hope it continues.
