Saints will today discover the extent of the latest injury to Michael Svensson.
The Swedish centre back limped off after just 31 minutes of Saints' 3-1 pre-season win against Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road last night.
Svensson, 30 has not played a competitive game since November, when he suffered a recurrence of the knee injury that he first damaged more than two years ago.
Saints boss George Burley said: "I was watching from up in the stand and Michael seemed to over stretch.
"We'll have good look at him in the morning and see what reaction he gets from the game.
"It was disappointing for him but we want him back in the first team as soon as possible so we didn't hesitate to take him off as it's only a pre-season game."
