Hampshire's James Wade is continuing to take darts by storm after hammering another top name to move into the semi-finals of the Stan James World Matchplay Championships.

This time it was England's Chris Mason who was on the wrong end as the Aldershot ace breezed into the last four with a phenomenal 16-4 legs victory at Blackpool's Winter Gardens.

Wade, who only decided to pack away his motor mechanic's tools and turn professional 12 days ago, averaged 100-plus in the contest.

Wade who had already beaten Denis Ovens 10-1 and Kevin Painter 13-8 rattled in eight maximums during the contest.

He said: "I am exhausted but over the moon with that game. It's consistency that wins this game, not the big 180s, and I was consistent."

Wade was priced at 100-1 to claim the Professional Darts Corporation tournament at the beginning of the week.

Now his first wage packet as a professional is guaranteed to contain at least £10,000, but he is targeting the £30,000 winner's cheque.
