A superb attendance of 17,454 turned out at St Mary's this afternoon to watch Nigel Adkins' Saints defeat a team of former players 4-1 in a game to celebrate the club's 125th anniversary.
Inigo Idiakez put the ex-Saints ahead but Rickie Lambert equalised and two goals from Guly put the current players in control.
Youngster Ben Reeves was one of a host of substitutions in a game of two 35-minute halves.
Fans were given free admission to the game, and turned out in their thousands to celebrate the club's promotion to the Championship.
There was a reunion at the heart of the ex-Saints XI for two popular members of the club's 2003 FA Cup final side, Claus Lundekvam and Michael Svensson.
The likes of Jason Dodd and Egil Ostenstad also turned out, as did more recent ex-Saints such as Paul Wotton and Chris Perry.
