Saints boss Nigel Adkins has been rewarded for leading the club to promotion – with a bumper new contract.
Adkins agreed a three-year contract when he moved from Scunthorpe to replace Alan Pardew at St Mary’s last August. But that has been extended until June 2015 and is more good news for Saints fans following promotion back into the Championship under Adkins after two seasons in League One.
The decision shows how confident Nicola Cortese is that Adkins is the man to lead Saints to a second promotion, back into the Premiership for the first time since relegation from the top flight in 2005.
