Rod Bransgrove will reapply for a Rose Bowl Test match next month following the successful staging of last night's one-day international.
A capacity 20,000 crowd watched Pakistan beat England by two wickets and with six balls to spare to take a 2-0 lead in the Natwest Series.
But The Rose Bowl was the real winner as the aim to clear the site of the "vast majority of spectators" within 75 minutes of the game's finish was achieved.
It was a significant improvement on the only other occasion The Rose Bowl has accommodated a 20,000 crowd for a cricket match.
Cars were still gridlocked around the ground after midnight following the Twenty20 international between England and Sri Lanka two months ago.
But there was no repeat last night.
Hampshire Cricket chairman Bransgrove said: "We have a 70-page plan for getting 20,000 people in and out of The Rose Bowl and I don't have any doubts about the validity of it as long as we organise and conduct it as planned.
"There were also more park and ride sites and more park and ride buses than last time which helped make it a fantastic day.
"The weather was also fantastic, the lights were superb when they came on and it was a very good game of cricket which unfortunately the Pakistanis shaded."
Bransgrove knows that The Rose Bowl has a better chance of hosting a Test match than it did 24 hours ago.
"We always rise to the challenge in my view. We've had a couple of hiccups but today worked perfectly, as we always said it would.
"It's been a wonderful day for cricket and no one can fail to have noticed that.
"All the logistics to the afternoon and evening worked well and I'm very confident that this is an international venue for the future."
Bransgrove is disappointed that The Rose Bowl has only been awarded one one-day international for next year (against India on August 21), but is more confident than ever that a Test match will be played at West End.
"It's all coming together now. The Rose Bowl's going to be the future of English cricket but we've got a lot of work still to do to persuade the ECB that we're as good as we think we are. That process will continue on October 9."
