SAINTS midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has signed a contract extension, it has been officially announced.

An interview in with a French website last week hinted a deal had been done and Saints have now confirmed it.

The 21-year-old has penned a new deal that will keep him at St. Mary's until 2014.

The Frenchman said: "I think every player wants to play in the Premier League and this club has got everything to do that, so I want to be a part of that."

He joined Saints in 2008, under Jan Poortvliet for a deal worth up to €1.7m.

He is the second Saints player to extend his contract by three years this week, following Dan Harding.
