George Burley praised his "top notch" goalscorers as Saints chalked up a fourth successive league and cup win at the weekend.

Two goals from the Championship's leading scorer Grzegorz Rasiak and one from Rudi Skacel enabled Saints to jump above Burnley into the top three.

Saints did not play that well at Turf Moor, despite having a man advantage for much of the game after defender Wayne Thomas' red card, but still managed to win.

Burley said: "We've not played to the standard we've shown in our last few away games but the standard of finishing was top notch.

"In football you need to put the ball in the net and we've people who can got that.

"Even not playing to our best, we're capable of scoring.

"They had ten men and we had to be patient and pass it.

"Second half we were patient, bided our time and got the goals when it mattered.

"As a manager you can be critical because we set the standards at Palace and Portman Road where we were tremendous.

"We dropped in terms of performance but you need people who can score.

"I said last season I needed more goalscorers and we've got that."

Burley is delighted by the form of Rasiak, who has now scored eight goals in nine Championship games this season.

"They were two classic headers," said Burley of Rasiak's goals. "You're always looking for your centre forward to pull away and score far post.

"It was Rudi's first league goal as well and he's capable of scoring so it was nice for him to start in the league."
