GRZEGORZ Rasiak was back to inflict more misery on Burnley at the weekend.

The in-form Polish striker was booed throughout by the Turf Moor fans who still remember an incident during a match for Derby in August 2005.

On that occasion Clarets defender Wayne Thomas was sent off for fouling Rasiak, who sealed Derby's 2-0 win with a last-minute goal after Inigo Idiakez had fired the visitors ahead.

Burnley fans believe Rasiak made a meal of Thomas' challenge.

Remarkably, Thomas was dismissed again on Saturday - the centre half's second red card at Turf Moor this season following one in the Carling Cup against Hartlepool.

On Saturday Rasiak answered the boo boys in the best way possible - by scoring twice. It means he now has eight in nine games and is the Championship's leading scorer.

"I like this stadium," he said. "I scored here for Derby. I have played almost two years in England and have played here four times now.

"I get booed because when I was here for Derby somebody kicked me and got sent off and I scored in injury time.

"But the three points are what we wanted. We scored three goals and we must be happy.

"I scored two goals and that was good too.

"Burnley played very well, they were very dangerous and it was easier for us when they had a man sent off.

"That was early on but we tried to win and we did.

"I only had two chances and I scored two goals, but the most important thing is to win,"

Both of Rasiak's headed goals were laid on by crosses from Rudi Skacel and the Saints striker was pleased to see his midfield colleague get on the score sheet as well.

"I told him he should have passed to me and I could have scored another, but he shot and it was a fantastic strike," quipped Rasiak.

He added: "We said before the game we wanted to win, but it is very hard.

"It is a very physical league but we tried to play very offensive football which is good for me because my teammates created me a lot of chances and I scored."
