Saints face QPR this weekend bidding to win a fifth consecutive match for the first time in over 25 years.
League victories against Crystal Palace, Plymouth and Burnley along with a Carling Cup win against Millwall mean Saints currently stand on four wins on the bounce.
The last time they won five games in all competitions was in January 1981 when Lawrie McMenemy's side won SEVEN successive games - five in the old First Division and two in the FA Cup.
Saints boss George Burley admits his team are confident but are not thinking of records or league tables and instead just concentrating on each game as they come along.
He said: "I think you're looking for consistency as you don't go anywhere without that. You need it home and away and need to be trying to perform at a higher level week in week out."
He added: "I don't get through records too much but I have been fortunate to be manager of teams who have broken quite a few records."
