CLAUS Lundekvam will declare himself available to join Saints' early-season promotion push by the time the Championship resumes after the international break.

The Saints skipper is ready to resume full-time training later this week and has targeted the October 14 visit to Leicester for his potential comeback.

If not that game, he could be available for the mouth-watering trip to table-topping Cardiff City three days later.

After six weeks of rigorous pre-season training, Lundekvam's 2006/07 campaign was halted when he ripped two ankle ligaments in the second minute of the curtain-raiser at Derby back on August 6.

It's been six agonising weeks for Lundekvam, but he can see light at the end of the tunnel now.

"I should be back in full training this week," he revealed.

"Then it's just a case of getting my fitness back.

"I'll talk to the gaffer to see how I'm doing and whether I'll need a reserve game or not.

"It's been frustrating, I hate watching games, but I'm glad the ankle's getting better now."
