BARTOSZ Bialkowski took another step towards returning to George Burley's first team squad as Saints reserves won 3-0 at QPR yesterday afternoon.

The 19-year-old Polish shot-stopper, top right, kept his second clean sheet in as many reserve outings since making his comeback from a cruciate knee ligament injury.

"He did very well," said reserve boss Stewart Henderson.

"His handling was good, he got amongst the bodies at corners, he made some good saves from long-range shots and one excellent save from a deflected shot when he was going the wrong way but managed to get back and save.

"He's got better with each game he's played and I'm sure he's not too far away from first team selection if required."

The Pontin's Holiday Combination encounter also saw David McGoldrick hammer out a two-goal message to Burley.

The 18-year-old grabbed his first senior goal for Saints when he climbed off the subs bench to complete the 4-0 Carling Cup rout of Millwall last Tuesday.

McGoldrick's recent elevation to Burley's squad has come after a glut of reserve and youth goals for the club and the sale of Ricardo Fuller and Dexter Blackstock.

And his double strike yesterday acts only to underline the youngster's striking credentials.
