SAINTS defender Danny Butterfield has signed a new one-year contract with the club.
The right-back was due to become a free agent this summer, but is now tied to St Mary's until 2013.
The 32-year-old has suffered an injury-plagued season, making just five appearances, with only two of those coming in the league.
The former Crystal Palace player joined Saints in the summer of 2010 when he was signed by former manager Alan Pardew.
In total, Butterfield has made 44 appearances for the club.
