SOUTHAMPTON AC’s 16-year-old multi-eventer Amaya Scott earned two podium places as part of the England team competing at the World Schools’ Championships in Nancy, France.
In her first event, the high jump, Scott cleared 1.69 metres to take second place behind Turkish schoolgirl Okdem Rumeysa.
Because of an event clash, the Mountbatten schoolgirl then had to run over to the shot put circle where she propelled the 3k shot 14.95 metres for a new personal best. It was good enough for third place behind Xinhui Li from China and Chloe Servant of France.
With Scott's teammates also competing well over the two-day team event, the England girls took the World Schools’ title well ahead of hosts France. England’s boys finished second behind Brazil.
