Jack Hillier has been crowned Southern Counties 52-56kg youth champion for a third time after a unanimous points win against Charlie Wise (Brighton and Hove ABC).
The first round was fairly even with Wise looking sharp and throwing fast combinations off the back foot.
But by the end of the round Hillier had started to slow him down.
In the second and third rounds, Hiller went up a gear and forced Wise to work at a pace he couldn’t handle, hurting his opponent several times with combinations to the body and head.
It was a remarkable effort from Hillier, given he had been suffering from a cold in the build-up to the fight, but he showed great determination to bag his third Southern Counties title.
He now faces Tommy Lee Connors of Windrush Valley ABC in a pre-quarter-final.
