Hampshire Cricket have formally ended their association with the Rajasthan Royals after revealing a new logo celebrating their 150th anniversary.
The newly-designed Hampshire Cricket crest maintains the ever-popular trademark rose and crown whilst incorporating an elegant modern shield.
A key feature of the logo sees reference to the Club’s heritage and inauguration year of 1863, acknowledging the rich history of the famous county as the Club prepares for a momentous year at the world class Ageas Bowl.
The Club played its first game on 7th July 1864 at the Antelope Ground, Southampton against neighbouring Sussex.
Hampshire chairman, Rod Bransgrove said: “The enhancement of our logo has been timed to complement our celebration of Hampshire Cricket’s 150th anniversary.
"It provides a perfect balance between recognising the important historical milestone and developing a modern feel that will help the Club continue to move forward for years to come.”
The new logo will feature on all playing and replica kit in all formats of the game for the 2014 season, thus seeing an end to the ‘Royals’ identity. The team should therefore now be referred to as Hampshire Cricket or simply, Hampshire.
