HAMPSHIRE spinners Brad Taylor and Mason Crane took six wickets between them against Sri Lanka Under-19s in Colombo.

It was not enough to prevent England Under-19s from losing the second game of their 50-over Tri Series, following defeat against India three days ago.

But Hampshire's spin twins again showed why they are so highly rated.

Captain Taylor took 4-34, while leg-spinner Crane claimed 2-38 as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 191.

Taylor dismissed three left-handers, starting with opener Salindu Ushan, was was lbw in the off-spinner's first spell.

The rest of his wickets came in his second spell as Sri Lanka slipped from 127-3 to 145-6.

Right-hander Wanidu Hasaranga was stumped for nine and Kamindu Mendis was bowled for one before Taylor held on to a return catch to see off Malinga Amarasinghe.

Crane dismissed Sri Lanka top scorer Charith Asalanka (48), a return catch accounting for the left-handed number three, before having Vishad Randika caught behind in his second spell.

But England went on to lose by 52 runs.

Batting at nine and ten respectively, Taylor and Crane were dismissed for 18 and one as England were bowled out for 139 in reply.

England will be hoping to avenge their opening defeat when they play their second game against India tomorrow.
