James Vince made his highest Pakistan Super League score but the Karachi KIngs still suffered a third a successive defeat to Shahid Afridi's side in Sharjah.
Vince took a good low catch at cover as Mohammad Amir dismissed Kamran Akmal during Peshawar Zalmi's 182-4 (Afridi 17*).
He then contributed a 28-ball 44 at number three, including a six over long-off against Mohammad Asghar and five fours, two of which were against former Hampshire teammate Afridi.
But with 34 balls remaining and 74 still needed, Vince was tyhe sixth to go, bowled by a middle stump yorker from Australian speedster Shaun Tait.
Despite Ravi Bopara's 33-ball 67 (five fours, four sixes), Karachi lost by three runs.
They have three matches in the next three days and will attempt to bounce back against Shane Watson's Quetta Qalanders, the only team below them in the table, in Sharjah tomorrow.
