Joe Weatherley made an unbeaten century - but Hampshire’s 2nd XI lost their three-day friendly against Surrey at The Ageas Bowl.
The 19 year-old prospect's 104 (117 balls) could not prevent Hampshire from losing by 323 runs.
Felix Organ was stumped for 72 off Zafar Ansari's slow left-arm after an opening stand of 155 with Weatherley.
Ryan Stevenson, who did not bowl in his first game of the season, scored an unbeaten 97 but ran out of partners as Hampshire were bowled out for 372.
Hampshire had been bowled out for 87 in their first innings, with Matt Dunn taking 6-34.
Weatherley also took 2-83 with his off-spin as Surrey followed their first-innings 400-4 with 382-7 declared.
Off-spinner Brad Taylor (3-62) was the pick of the Hampshire attack in the second innings.
