RILEE Rossouw hit a blistering century in hampshire's penultimate pre-season friendly, against Sussex at Hove.
The South African smashed a 69-ball ton before retiring, with Hampshire 133-4.
Hampshire eventually closed the second and final day on 142-7 after Sussex had made 339 in reply to the visitors’ first-innings 167.
Opening batsmen Joe Weatherley (0) and Sam Northeast (9) soon departed.
Liam Dawson (12) and Aneurin Donald, who was stumped, had also gone by the time Rossouw reached his hundred.
There was also a century for Sussex’s Harry Finch.
New signing Keith Barker continued his impressive pre-season by finishing with three wickets after bowling Luke Wright for 30.
Liam Dawson took two wickets and Jamie Fuller his second of the match, while Gareth Berg also took one.
Hampshire’s next friendly is a three-dayer against Oxford MCCU in The Parks from Sunday.
