TOM Alsop’s career-best one-day score helped Hampshire continue their 100 per cent record in the Royal London One Day Cup as they thrashed Glamorgan by seven wickets.

The holders followed their 90-run win against Kent by chasing down Glamorgan’s 292 with 8.1 overs to spare.

Alsop’s unbeaten 130 featured a 161-run partnership with captain James Vince (95) for the second wicket.

Hampshire lost Aiden Markram in the powerplay , caught by Billy Root at deep square leg, before Vince and Alsop put Glamorgan to the sword.

Vince hit eight of his 11 fours through the legside – with some powerful shots between mid-wicket and square leg.

After reaching a 43-ball 50 he looked set for his ninth List A ton – before picking out Craig Meschede at point.

Alsop continued to sparkle.

The former England Lions batsman was more watchful early on but relieved it with two huge sixes in reaching his first one-day century for two years, from 93 balls.

Sam Northeast, fresh from his third century in five innings in Wednesday’s win against Kent, was lbw to Marnus Labuschange for 14 before Alsop took Hampshire home.

Glamorgan’s innings was a curious one.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, they managed a respectable total despite two collapses.

Kyle Abbott reduced the visitors to 28-3 in the first eight overs with high quality line-and-length bowling.

Meschede top-edged an attempted hook to Alsop and Charles Hemphrey and Labuschange edged, to first-slip Liam Dawson and wicketkeeper Alsop respectively.

David Lloyd and Billy Root added 100 for the fourth wicket after Abbott and Chris Wood were withdrawn from the attack.

The more attacking Lloyd reached his fourth format half-century with a six to the longest square boundary off James Fuller, before they fell to 140-6.

Root was bowled by part-time spinner Aiden Markram for 39 before Lloyd was run out.

Kiran Carlson was lbw to Mason Crane before Graham Wagg gave the visitors a total to defend.

He carted Dawson for two sixes in an over on his way to a 47-ball fifty and a career-best 68.

Chris Cooke was dropped by Fuller at point but added 95 with Wagg before he was run out by a stunning swoop by Vince at cover. Wagg soon slapped Dawson to Vince before Marchant de Lange was stumped.
