Alex Senneck smashed 81 off 45 balls as South Wilts piled up 266-4 to beat Alton by 54 runs at Lower Bemerton.

South Wilts had batted themselves into a strong position with Tom Morton (35) and the more sedate Paul Draper (39) sharing a 73-run start.

Western Australian left-hander Chris Wood (53) took his time scoring a half-century before being dismissed in typical family fashion like his Test-playing father Graeme who was so often run out!

James Hayward made 27, but it was Senneck who set Bemerton alight with a boundary strewn 81 off just 45 balls.

His run blitz saw South Wilts score 104 runs off the last ten overs and leave Alton a massive task.

Teenager Scott Myers (28) and Richie Morgan (27) provided Alton with a 58-run start, but Wood (2-51) checked their progress with a double blow.

Australian Jake Andrws (56) struck the ball cleanly and effectively to put Alton back in the contest and Michael Heffernan (34) did equally well.

But Alton lost their way at 173-4 and were dismissed for 212 Hayward getting a rare left-arm spin outing and taking five of the last six wickets.

He finished with 5-50 as Alton dipped to 212 all out.

Australian Cameron Merchant hit an unbeaten 77 to guide Havant to a four-wicket win at Liphook & Ripsley, whose 178 had been based around Harry Hooper (39) and Chris Wright (32).

Richard Hindley took 3-28 and then provided key support for the Sydney grade left-hander as Havant, who stumbled their way to victory.
