Leaders BAT Sports are without leading left-arm strike bowler Dan Goldstraw for tomorrow's opening ECB Southern Electric Premier League all-day "time" visit to newly promoted Alton, 11.30.

But, with extended playing hours, BAT are likely to opt for a slow bowling option with veteran left-arm spinner Terry Rawlins called up.

Champions BAT have made a flying start to the season and, after four straight wins, are already 14 points clear of second-placed Havant.

In contrast Alton, who will taste all-day' cricket for the first time tomorrow, have lost all four 50-over games.

They bolster their front line attack by calling up experienced seamer Jerry Pang-Kessler.

Havant, with three wins in four matches, expect to be without opening bowler Richard Pineo for a large chunk of the season.

The Portsmouth Grammar School PE teacher is fully committed during term time and is overseeing the PGS rugby tour to Australia next month.

Pineo is missing for the visit of an unchanged South Wilts to Havant Park the Salisbury side having won two and lost two of its 50-over games.

Hampshire Academy hand an opportunity to 16-year old Basingstoke & North Hants left-armer Chris Wood against Bournemouth at Chapel Gate.

Wood plays for the county under-17 side and replaces Hartley Wintney-based Roy Cockram, who is suffering from glandular fever.

Also absent is Poole's Simon Watkins, who broke his thumb in a recent Hampshire 2nd XI match right on the eve of his A-level exams !

David Griffiths is set to play in an Academy side bolstered by Chris Benham and Mitchell Stokes.

Bournemouth could have an all-teenage new ball attack. With left-armer Matt Mixer tied up with school duties at KES, skipper Darren Cowley calls up 17-year old Dan Joseph to possibly partner Neil Bishop, who took five wickets on debut a fortnight ago.

Bournemouth, who won the "time" pennant last season, will rely heavily on youth for their pace bowling. Simon Ridley and Matt Metcalf are also named.

With a win over Alton already under their belts and a 300-plus total posted at the Rose Bowl last week, Hursley Park have enjoyed a better start this season.

Apart from Billy Taylor, who is on Hampshire duty at the Rose Bowl, they expect to field their strongest side against Liphook & Ripsley at the Quarters.

Bottom-of-the-table Liphook, with four defeats, are without Jeremy Bulled, a reliable top order batsman.

Bashley (Rydal) skipper Andy Sexton must be wondering if the club's injury hoodoo will ever end.

Apart from Drew Porter's on-going shoulder problem, Sexton was able to send a fully fit bowling attack into action in last week's last-over defeat by Bournemouth.

But last Sunday, seasoned off-spin all-rounder Neil Taylor dislocated a finger taking a return catch and drops down to the 2nd XI instead of playing at Portsmouth's Southsea seafront ground.

"I might just be able to get away with it in the 2nd XI, but I've injured my little finger several times before and it's naturally weakened," he explained.

The Portsmouth match is an important one for Bashley, who need to regain a winning habit.

"We were in a position to win last week and didn't, so now the Portsmouth game becomes rather crucial. "We've won one and lost one of our two completed games and, with BAT already steaming ahead at the top, need another win," Taylor added.

Broadstone's Glen Jones replaces the injured Taylor, with Sexton keeping his fingers crossed that Porter hasn't suffered further injury problems in Hampshire's 2nd XI visit to Old Trafford.
