Michael Carberry is hoping to knock his former Surrey teammates out of the Twenty20 Cup at The Rose Bowl tonight.

Left-hander Carberry, Hampshire's leading run scorer in this year's Twenty20 Cup, knows that the side which loses tonight is almost certainly out of the competition.

The Hampshire Hawks have won both their Twenty20 home games, while Surrey arrive at The Rose Bowl on the back of three successive defeats, having won their first two matches.

For Carberry, it will be a case of friends reunited. He said: "I grew up playing with Scotty Newman, Rikki Clarke and Timmy Murtagh we came up through the junior sides and I'm still good friends with all of them.

"I opened the batting a lot with Scott, and we played together from the age of nine, we had some good times and shared many a big partnership together for the second XI.

"They developed nicely at Surrey and are all very good players. Rikki has already played Test cricket, Scotty has played for England A and Timmy is a very good county bowler.

"I always look to see how they're doing on teletext and they'll be a big test for us, but our record at The Rose Bowl is pretty good and, if we perform on the day, we can continue that."
