Steve Wright celebrated a career-best return of 7-35 for Flamingo's 2nd XI in last week's Hampshire League Regional South victory over Ampfield no mean feat for a 14-year old!
It was all his own work too as the left-arm seam bowler clean bowled six of his victims before taking a return catch to remove the other.
"It was the first time I had ever got more than four wickets in any sort of cricket," beamed Steve, who captains Hampshire's Under-14 county team.
Newly-promoted Flamingo looked as though they might be going to lose to Ampfield, who had moved to 151-4 chasing their hosts' 209-4 But Steve, whose spin bowler father Dave Wright went wicketless in Flamingo's eventual 36-run win, turned the match on its head with his second spell.
He routed the Ampfield middle and lower-order In the space of 19 deliveries!
