ENGLAND’S one-day international against India at The Rose Bowl is nearly a sell out – but tickets still remain for the historic first day of Test cricket on the south-coast.

More than 24,000 people will be packed into The Rose Bowl on September 6 for the second ODI of the summer between England and the recently-crowned world champions.

The game will feature the likes of Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, pictured, and his fellow World Cup winners.

It will be a record crowd at the West End venue for what will be the stadium’s 13th one day international.

The Rose Bowl has also staged two England Twenty20 internationals.

But tickets are still available for all five days of the Test match, the third and final match of the series between England and Sri Lanka.

Commercial manager Zac Toumazi said: “We’ve got a great one day following, we sell out our ODIs every time and we’re confident of selling out the first day of the Test match.

“We’d like to see more people buy tickets but there won’t be any panic discounting, that would be unfair to those people who have already bought tickets.

“It could be a series decider with all to play for so hopefully the people of Hampshire will get behind us, it’s a big event for the area.”

Chairman Rod Bransgrove said: “The first day of the Test match will be a piece of history.

“I thought people would be gagging to be there and am surprised it’s not already sold out, but there’s still plenty of time for tickets to be bought.”

Test match tickets can be bought at rosebowlplc.com or by ringing the ticket office on 0870 243 0291.
