The England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed it will not take any action against Shane Warne following the farcical end to Hampshire's championship season.

Hampshire captain Warne was furious when Lancashire captain Mark Chilton did not declare and give his side a target to chase on the final day of the last championship match at The Rose Bowl.

Warne responded by bowling a series of throw ups from a standing start, for which he was no-balled, as well as bouncers, while Chris Benham bowled three balls of conventional right-arm off spin and three balls of slow left arm in his only over.

Wicketkeeper Nic Pothas even bowled with his pads ON for the second time this season but Lancashire batted on until the close, when they had made 339-6, a lead of 562, against Hampshire's nine-man attack.

Warne admitted that he considered forfeiting the game, but after reading the report submitted by umpires Barry Dudleston and Neil Mallender yesterday, ECB head of operations Alan Fordham has revealed that no action will be taken.

Fordham said: "We've seen the umpires report and the umpires were satisfied with how it was all handled, so there will be no action. If there was any talk of the game being brought into disrepute, it certainly didn't come from us."
