CHERRIES have shattered their club record transfer deal with the big-money signing of Malmo striker Tokelo Rantie.

The 22-year-old has today penned a four-year contract for what both clubs are describing as an undisclosed fee, with the switch subject to international clearance and a work permit.

However, the Bournemouth Echo understands Rantie’s acquisition would be a substantial increase on the £800,000 reportedly paid for Matt Tubbs.

Cherries had two previous bids for Rantie rejected by Malmo but a sizeable third offer proved impossible to turn down.

Highly-rated South African international Rantie, who had been high on manager Eddie Howe’s wish-list, was also understood to have been a target for Celtic and Middlesbrough.
