THE Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division championship chase took another dramatic twist yesterday as the leadership reins changed hands again.

Totton lost their high-noon clash at home to Moneyfields 2-1, handing the initiative to rivals Gosport Borough, who comfortably brushed aside near neighbours Fareham Town 3-0 in the afternoon.

Gosport's win puts them two points clear at the summit with a game in hand but boss Alex Pike still reckons there are more twists to come.

"I've got to get my players' feet back on the ground - we can't afford to sit back and relax," warned Pike.

"It could all change yet again, but I want to go Totton on the last day of the season not needing to get anything from the game - I can play my reserves then!"

John Wilson cashed in on a defensive error to give Boro a 24th-minute lead against Fareham at Privett Park and they doubled their money seven minutes later through Bickram Singh.

Fareham, who have never won a league game at Gos-port, were reduced to ten men on 78 minutes when Warren Hunt picked up their FOURTEENTH red card of the season for use of an elbow. Substitute Neil Scammell rubbed salt in the wound with a third on 85 minutes.

Totton took the lead against Moneyfields after 30 minutes when Lee Stevens converted a cross from Mike Gosney but then the Stags lost their influential midfielder, who was taken to hospital needing stitches in a gashed head.

On 83 minutes, a George Way corner was headed in by Pabs N'Doye and, in stoppage time, Dan Gauntlett scrambled home a loose ball in the Totton area.
