FORMER Sholing goal ace Lee Wort jumped off the bench to put the finishing touch to Gosport Borough’s 3-1 derby Conference South win over Havant & Waterlooville yesterday.
Wort, a late sub, scored Borough’s final goal as they gained revenge for a 3-2 Boxing Day loss at Havant to jump above the Hawks into fourth place.
Top scorer Justin Bennett had plundered Borough’s opening two goals in the first half, taking his seasonal tally to 25.
Bennett headed Gosport into a 12th minute lead, after ex-Saint Matt Paterson had nodded a Rory Williams cross on.
Bennett doubled both his and Gosport’s tally with a left foot shot that cannoned in off the post.
With seven minutes left, Havant reduced the arrears through former Eastleigh striker Ben Wright.
Home keeper Nathan Ashmore pulled off a superb save in the third minute of stoppage time, diving low to turn away Bradley Bubb’s shot.
From the resulting corner, the game was put to bed after a fantastic counter attack saw Wort, right, break the offside trap and round the keeper to score his fourth goal of the campaign.
