MANAGER Neil Benson believes he's pulled off one of the biggest coups of the Wessex transfer window by signing former Saints prodigy Lloyd Foot for Andover Town.

Foot previously played for Town in 2013/14, where he scored 18 goals from defence, and will rejoin after playing for Sutton United, Eastbourne Borough and Farnborough Town.

The 6ft 2" centre back comes to the Portway Stadium in a player-coaching role.

"He is head and shoulders above our level so it is great he is coming to play for us this season," explained boss Neil Benson.

"He’s played numerous games for the Southampton under-18 side and he’s played football in Sweden.

"He started last season with Sutton United, went to Eastbourne Borough and finished the season as skipper of Farnborough Town so it shows the quality he has got.

"It’s a massive signing for us and I would say it has got to be one of the biggest signings in the Wessex League this summer.

"It is a real show of intention for what we want to do this season.

"I’d really like to thank the board for their support because they have been really helpful in making this signing and our others."

Foot played no part in the victories over Moneyfields and Team Solent but, as the Pink went to print, he was in line to play in the FA Cup against Gillingham Town.
