NEW boss Mick Catlin sees no quick remedy for Gosport Borough’s ills.

Yesterday’s 3-1 home defeat by Bishops Stortford leaves Borough three points adrift at the foot of the Evo-Stik South Premier table and Catlin warned: “Things will get worse before they get better.”

Hampered by a transfer embargo and a host of injuries, Gosport have another crucial clash ahead of them tomorrow (Monday, 7.45pm) away at fellow strugglers Dorchester Town.

"The lads are doing the best they can under the circumstances,” said Catlin. “The squad is low on numbers and, because of the embargo, we are restricted in bringing in replacements.

"We are going to be severely tested at Dorchester as we have a few injuries and no time to get players in.”

Recent addition Jamie Brown was out with a knee injury on Saturday as two-goal Sharique Hyde-Skerritt and skipper Mark Hughes led the Bishops to victory. Iffy Onwuachu hit back on 77 minutes for beaten Borough.

*Ex-Saint Sam Argent made a triumphant return to Basingstoke Town, starring in their 3-1 home win over Banbury United.

Argent - new in from Hartley Wintney - struck twice as Terry Brown's men celebrated a fifth consecutive league victory at the Camrose Ground.
