Richard Bland birdied two of his final four holes to dramatically make the cut in the Nordea Masters in Sweden yesterday.

The 40-year-old Stoneham golfer finished in an amazing tie between 13 players for 62nd place – including Australian Andrew Dodt, who got there in extraordinary fashion.

Dodt made two holes-in-one in his round, the first player to achieve that feat on the European Tour.

Bland shot a second-round 70 to add to his first-round 72 and is two under par for the tournament.

Twenty-year-old Italian Matteo Manassero surged to the front of the field with a 65, after an opening 66. That put him on 13 under par.

Manassero landed the fourth title of his blossoming career on Sunday when he won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

Hampshire’s Sam Hutsby was in tied 22nd place in the latest Challenge Tour event, the Fred Olsen Challenge de Espana in the Canary Islands.

Hutsby was three under par after rounds of 68 and 71 – but that left him ten shots behind the joint leaders, American Brooks Koepa and Frenchman Edouard Dubois.
