Southampton’s Richard Bland produced an impressive finish in the Malaysian Open to earn a tie for 11th place and a first big cheque of the season.
The European Tour ace birdied three of his final four holes this morning to ensure an eight-under-par finish for the tournament.
Bland started the day on five-under, in a share of 18th, jumping seven places on the leaderboard to earn €45,475 in prize money.
That takes the Stoneham player’s season total to €60,013 and puts him 62nd in the early order of merit standings.
Bland did have a share of sixth place in Malaysia after opening rounds of 68 and 70 at Kuala Lumpur Golf Club took him to six-under.
A one-over 73 on Saturday dropped him back, before he rallied again today.
Bland’s next tournament is set to be the Joburg Open, in South Africa, which begins on February 26.
