Two Hampshire fishermen have praised the RNLI for rescuing them after they became trapped at sea while on a fishing trip.

Mike Clifton, from Totton, praised the crew of Calshot RNLI lifeboat for their help in guiding him and friend John Cady back to shore after they were overcome by fog.

Michael Lawrence, from Calshot RNLI, said: “We launched our all-weather lifeboat and picked up their position – they turned out to be in the middle of the main shipping lane. When we found them they were fine, albeit a little worried having been lost for some time.”

Mike said: “I cannot thank the RNLI crew enough, they were absolutely superb.”
