Faced with a 20knot breeze forecast to rise, wind against tide and poor visibility, race officer Joe Blachford wisely set a short and conservative course for the 11 boats tempted to the fourth race in the Lymington Town Sailing Club early points series.

Starting in the river the fleet raced out to Yacht Haven and looped back to No 1 past and back to Yacht Haven before reaching up the river to finish.

The reaching breeze made it a benefit for the asymmetric spinnaker boats giving Andy Heissig victory in the fast handicap class and Mike Beggs and Nick Fagan sailing their Stratos, a win in the medium handicap.

Iain and Sue Sutherland in their Wayfarer moved from last place to second on finding that the boat ahead had forgotten to bring its spinnaker.
