SOUTHAMPTON star Steve Curtis has claimed the second of a possible FIVE titles in 2006.

Back in early September Curtis, along with Bjorn Gjelsten, won his fourth European championship.

Now he has been crowned American national champion after winning the final OSS Super Cat class race with Tom Abrams in Reliable Carriers.

Curtis and Abrams grabbed their fourth win of the season at the Vegas Nationals on Lake Meade near Las Vegas to clinch the title by one point.

Curtis and Gjelsten, meanwhile, lead the overall UIM Class 1 World Powerboats Championship standings by 14 points from Victory 77.

They are also lying second in the Middle East championship, two points behind Qatar 96.

The pair also lead the Pole Position championship by 20 points with the final two rounds in Dubai on Saturday November 25 and Saturday, December 2.
