Saints will wait on the results of a scan on Ryan Bertrand before deciding whether he will be fit to face Brighton on Wednesday night.
The left back limped off before half time in the FA Cup victory over Watford with a hamstring injury.
With Matt Targett having gone out on loan to Fulham, Bertrand’s absence would be a big blow.
Sam McQueen would most likely deputise, but Jeremy Pied could also slot in as he did when Bertrand was forced off.
Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino reported: “We don’t know.
“We wait, do the scan with the doctor and after we decide.
“We don’t know the consequence of the injury today.”
