I HAVE just read with amazement that Cedar Lodge school for people with disabilities is going to be rebuilt (Daily Echo, May 22).

The school resides in Redbridge Lane next to the new Oasis academy. Why do they need to build a new school?

The redundant Oaklands is already up and running with a swimming pool and every modern facility icluding disabled access which could easily be transformed into the requirements of Cedar Lodge.

How in this time of austerity can anyone justify building yet another new school in an area that barely covers a square mile?
