I AM writing about the 12-year-old who thinks wind turbines should provide our power.

I have seen burnt out wind turbines on my travels to the north. They cannot operate in gales and high winds nor can they operate if there is no wind. In America they have stopped them as being too expensive to maintain.

No use having solar panels on fields, as last year proved that with a bad harvest; America and Russia also had a bad harvest so grain is in short supply and we have none left in the silos, I have heard.

All the spare grain from America went to Russia, Australia and New Zealand supply the Middle and Far East since this country got entwined with Europe.

Europe does not supply England with grain. So next time your chicken comes from Thailand they are fed with baby fish and other rubbish turned into meal to feed them. English chicken and pork will become rare here as too expensive in a bad harvest. So as much land as can must be turned into wheat, barley and oats.

Agricultural land should be used for solar panels or housing come to that. The only people who profit are the electric people and builders.

Furthermore the Germans are now building 28 coal-fired power stations at great speed as wind turbines are completely useless.

Our power stations are being converted to wood. The wood must come from America and Canada.

So what do you want: food on your plate or solar panels and windmills? Remember the world will not always provide food for England and sooner than expected the old ration books will come forth again.

Mrs D H M WOOD, Southampton.
