ON writing to the NFDC offices at Lyndhurst (before the New Forest national park creation) I was told that my house is in an area too far from Lyndhurst for proper attention and maintenance by the council.
Volunteers do sterling work collecting cans, bottles, spent scratch cards used by commuters, because there are no rubbish bins we could put waste into for council collection. Considerable damage is done to the bus stop, regularly making it look like a bomb site with grass verges churned up by heavy vehicles.
Obviously home owners suffer a loss of property value under these neglects. Night parking – four cars to one property – was never well thought out, causing rows.
The heavy winds here blow rubbish on to my property, but I’m too unfit for putting it in a sack, so I’m being blamed for vermin infestation now.
RUTH A OLDEN, Hythe.
