WE have the New Forest National Park Authority, which basically covers all the rural parts and villages; the district council, which includes the towns, on the outskirts of the actual heritage area; and two parliamentary constituencies.
What is bizarre, is that a local district councillor can be nominated to go on to the National Park Authority, having been elected for their ward, and yet end up making planning decisions on projects miles away.
For example, a councillor from Totton deciding what happens near to Ringwood. I think councillors should only have a say within their own constituency on National Park matters.
RICHARD GRANT, Burley.
