SOUTHAMPTON City Council is a disgrace. To allow a £30 million black hole to develop in our finances is quite frankly unbelievable.

Cuts are now proposed to brilliant facilities like Woodside Lodge, which could have been avoided if action had been taken earlier. This will result in many hardworking people losing their jobs.

I therefore propose that all councillors should accept a ten per cent cut in their pay to help plug the financial hole that they have caused.

Please would any city councillor who disagrees with this suggestion kindly reply to my letter to let the readers know why they should not feel some of the pain that is going to be inflicted on others.

JOE LOCKYER, Southampton.
